I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Music has always been a big part of my life. When I was 11 I asked my Dad for a guitar and was excited when I got one for Christmas. My excitment faded when I discovered it’s not as easy as it looks. haha. But I kept with it and soon my excitement returned when I learned my first song. My parents couldn’t afford guitar lessons so they bought me an instructional DVD and I watched that about half way through to learn a couple chords and then I just started teaching myself to play by ear and picked up some new chords off the internet.
I’ve had piano lessons but those didn’t last long. I found myself listening to the music and just memorizing the songs instead of reading the notes on the page. So I can’t read notes very well at all. It’s just easier for me to listen so I end up taking the easy way and not pay attention to the sheet music in front of me.

I used to be terrified to sing in front of people. We used to go to campgrounds and we knew a lady who did Karaoke. My Dad, Grandma, and Grandpa would all sing and they would try to get me to sing too, but I would always turn them down. Then finally I decided to try it and discovered it’s actually kinda fun:) Not long after that, my Dad got Karaoke equipment and started hosting Karaoke at the campgrounds. For a while I just sang songs on the Karaoke CD’s. Then I started bringing my Guitar and Keyboard along and actually playing. Sometimes my original music. Now I’ve sang in Church, Weddings and Funerals.
My Dad asked me for years if I wanted to be a singer. I thought I was too shy. It wasn’t until recently that I decided this IS what I want to do with my life. I’ve been given this gift for a reason and I don’t want to waste it. Music is my passion. It amazes me how music can touch lives. I hope I can use my music to touch peoples lives the way it’s touched mine.
In April, 2010 I auditioned of AMTC (Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ). I sang a song I wrote, called “L-O-V-E”, and the next day I got a callback and was accepted into the AMTC program. It includes 5 weeks of training, a photo shoot, and then convention in Orlando, FL. The Summer group of contestants just got back and it sounded like they had an amazing time and now I can’t wait till my turn. In August I start my classes again. Can’t wait to get back to it. I learned so much and the people there are awesome. Very helpful and supportive. In January, 2011, I get to go to convention to perform in front of 50-100 of the top Tv, Music, and Movie producers. It’s a huge event and I’m hoping it will help me get started.
